The Advantages of a Solar Power Battery Charger

You know you have to do your part to conserve energy and reduce your carbon footprint. But is there a way to do that without a lot of hassle? You could use solar power to charge up your cell phone or laptop rather than electricity. Many campers and sailors already use solar power battery chargers to run their cell phones. Travelling salespeople find solar powered battery chargers to give off enough juice to get their car batteries started again.

Easy to Use

A solar power battery charger is not like a huge, heavy solar panel placed on top of a building. It’s often a lightweight, easily portable mat that you can roll out when needed and roll up like a sleeping bag when you don’t need it. But there are also small, non-flexible mini-panels that can fit on vehicle dashboards, vehicle roofs or countertops by a window. Many solar powered devices now come with at least one year’s warranty, too.

With consumers demanding more green products, there are even solar powered rechargeable batteries. These look just like standard batteries that you would use in flashlights or small appliances, only they run on solar energy. You would need a separate solar power battery charger just to keep them juiced up. But these devices are often palm-sized.

Easy to Find

You don’t have to go combing through a stack of mail order catalogues to find solar powered batteries and chargers. They are easily available on websites that sell solar powered goodies, but also available in camping supply stores, marine supply stores and sporting goods outlets and their online shops.

Some people are wary of shopping on the web from websites that they may have never heard of. But many electronic store chains also carry solar powered devices. If they do not currently have them in stock, they may be able to order them for you. If you already have a good relationship with a particular electronics store, then you know you are buying from a place that offers a return policy and store warranty.

Although using a solar powered battery charger may seem like that you’re not doing enough to help the environment, by using one, you’re still doing more than most people.
